I found this today:
NEW I N V E N T E D CEMENT, O R T E R R A S .
Notice is hereby given, that Mary Parker, of
Berners-Street, in the County of Middlesex,
Spinster, and William Bosworth Farn, of Berners-
Street aforesaid, Haberdasher, (Executrix and surviving
Executor, named and appointed in aud by the
last Will and Testament of James Parker, late of
Northfleet, in the County of Kent, Gentleman, deceased,)
do intend to present a Petition, in the next
Session os Parliament, for Leave to bring in a Bill,
in order to obtain an Act for vesting in them as Executors
and Representatives of the said James Parker,
for a Term of Years to be limited by such Act, the
sole and exclusive Right, Benefit, and Advantage of
making, using, and vending a certain Cement or
Terras to be used in Aquatic and other Buildings,
and Stucco Work, superior to any other Material
of a like Nature, and which has never before been,
made use of for these Purposes, for the exclusive
Right to make, use, and vend which said Cement or
Terras, the said James Parker in his Lifetime obtained
His Majesty's Letters Patent, bearing Date
at Westminster the 28th Day of June 1796, for the
Term of Fourteen Year.-*, from the Date of the said
Letters Patent.
Smith and Son,- Agents to the said Mary
Parker and William Bosworth Farn.
I am still trying to determine exactly which Parker is which in my family line. William Farn was married to Hannah and I think that this Mary was Hannah's sister. I show that a Joseph Parker was their father (but I could be wrong). So I see this that insinuates there is a will for this James Parker, Gentleman of Northfleet, Kent and it should be dated sometime between 1796 when this cement patent was first taken out and 1809 when this particular court request was made. However, at the NA, there are a few different James Parkers, but none that are of Northfleet and/or gentlemen.
Yes, I could just buy up every single James Parker will but surely there is an expert here who might have a more prudent suggestion.
Thanks for your help,
Betsy
