Hi
I am looking for James Wenban b 1807 England. I know he went to USA in 1827 and was a widow by 1880. The census indicates he lived in Ohio in 1880 but his son John was born in Pennsylvania.
I am also looking for his brother Edward Wenban b 1809 England. He immigrated at the same time as his brother but isn't on 1880 census on LDS site.

I would really appreciate any help

Regards
Fiona

Hi Fiona

Philadelphia, 1789-1880 Naturalization Records

Name: James Wenban
Place of Origin, England
Declaration of Intent Date, 5 Dec 1844
Declaration of Intent Court, Quarter Sessions
115288

1840 Census, Summerhill, Crawford, Pennsylvania

James Wenban

Number of persons in household: 6

Ages of persons in household, 1 male (age 30 - 40) 1 female (age 30 - 40) 2 females (under 5) 2 females (age 5 - 10)

1870 census, Euclid, Cuyahoga, Ohio

mistranscribed as Weston

James Wenbon, age 63, Farmer, real estate value 2,500, born England, both parents of foreign birth, male citizen of U.S. age over 21
Hanah, age 63, Keeping house, born Pennsylvania
John P, age 30, Farmer, born Pennsylvania, father of foreign birth
Sarah, age 27, At home, born Ohio
Adaline, age 38, At home, born Pennsylvania, both parents of foreign birth

Couldn't find James and family in 1850 or 1860, although did find a James Watson and family in 1860, of the right names and ages living in Euclid, Cuyahoga, Ohio which could well be yours.

1900 census, Euclid, Cuyahoga, Ohio

Head, John Wenban, age 59 born July 1840 in Pennsylvania, father born England, mother born Pennsylvania, Farmer, owns farm.
Wife, Sara E, age 57 born January 1843 in Ohio, parents born Massachusetts

They have been married for 36 years and do not have any children.

I have not found an Edward Wenban at all (he doesn't appear on the 1827 manifest either) but have found Simeon Wenban

Hope this helps

Yvonne
