Which County

Hi can anybody tell me which county does Fort William come under, I have been told that my Great grandfather went to live there, from Ireland, His name was William Bracken b.1836 was married in Ireland in 1867, then moved to Scotland some time after with some of his family but I dont know which county this falls into |help|

Inverness-Scottish folk don't like the shire at the end but when searching it will be Invernessshire.
