hi although i live in wiltshire i have been told that the male family came from the channel islands back in the 1700 to 18oo i have no information apart from james male portland 1843 i know it is a long shot but i know there are alot of males in the channel islands any help would be great

In the 19th century, by far the highest density of the surname MALE was in Somerset. If you include variants, the focus shifts to Huntingdonshire.

The following are the number of "Male" in the CI Census:
1841 11
1851 33
1861 24
1871 25
1881 24
1891 30
1901 27
Parish records exists back to the 1600's
