In the mid 1700's three CLives appeared in Aston: Samuel, George and Joseph. I believe they were brothers (or maybe cousins) they all worked in the metal and gun making industry and named their children after each other.
Samuels daughter Sophia (1791) married Charles Allen and their daughter Elizabeth married Charles Stringer in 1835 (if I've got the right Elizabeth Allen).

Questions:

Where did the Clive brothers come from, I can't find a mention of any of their births?
Assuming I've got the right Elizabeth, Charles Stringer appears to have come from Walsall and was probably born 1808, but then what?? He 's not listed as father on the youngest sons birth cert (Alfred b 1851) and Elizabeth is a widow on the 1851 census. But he is listed as Alfreds father on Alfreds marraige cert - or would that be just to keep up appearances?
