:) While the Napoleonic War was drawing to a close, the 16th Regiment of Foot left Cork Cove, Ireland for Canada. They arrived at Fort Wellington to secure the border and sort out the Americans. However, Peace was made and after things went wrong for other British Forces in the South of the USA the 16th returned to Europe having missed the Battle of Waterloo. They made a brief visit France before being stationed for some time in Ireland, where they were given the soubriquet "The Peacemakers" by the 33rd (who had been at Waterloo). Does anyone have any details of their history, say 1812-1820??

You might try the roll of honour website
http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Regiments/16thRegimentofFoot.html
for a very brief run through of the regiment's history

or possibly contact the Royal Anglian Regimental Museum
