I am searching for any information on Mary Maria Evans born in 1796 in Ocle Pitchard Herefordshire, she married William Groves 14-5-1831 at Ullingswick. I need to verify that these are the right groves's I'm looking for.

Also Ann Powell who's daughter Ann Powell Married Peter Carless in 1842. Peter and Ann's daughter Ann Careless Married William Groves in 1862.

Another branch I am after are the family of Alice Minnie Pankhurst born in Sussex in 1866.

The other names I am after are Hickes, Farmer, Luck and the maiden names of James Pankhursts wife Frances and Charles Pankhursts wife Mercy.

Hi Brian, Yep that's my Alice, I've gotten back to James and Frances Pankhurst, but I don't know Frances or Alice's mother Mercy's maiden names. I'd also like to go back futher but as you'd know finding any records before 1800 is difficult when you don't live in that country.

Hi Brian, the problem I have is that I'm not certain these are our William Groves' parents. There was another william born in Bosbury in the same year. What I'm after is if William and Mary Maria are his parents then who where their parents.

bluekat, this is probably a silly question,but have you looked at IGI and/or Hugh Wallis' site? I had a quick look but there are lots of Mary Evans. I will have another look and see if I can see anything.

Charles was born Sept qtr 1838 Ticehurst 7/408.
James Pankhust and wife Frances appear in the 1841 census and birth places are said to be Sussex. IGI does not show a marriage for them that I can see and it appears they may have married before official reg. in 1837.
Ann Careless married William Groves June qtr 1862 Ledbury 6a/751. This certificate should give you Williams parents.
I have looked further on IGI for Mary Maria Evans but cannot find a marriage.

Hi Brian, I haven't looked in those places yet thanks for the info. That has been my problem with Mary Maria Evans there seems to be no record of the marriage and the William Groves born in 1791 doesn't seem to have a birth or baptismal record. I have yet to find a record on the marriage of James and Frances Pankhurst. But it is brilliant that you managed to find Mercy's maiden name and marriage to Charles thanks. I had found Ann and Williams marriage but am unsure of how to get the certificate from England any tips?

Thanks Brian, I did what you said and ordered a marriage certificate from england for William and Ann Groves. Now I only have to wait and see if it arrives. LOL
On another subject would you know anything about Peter Careless Married to Hannah Tyler 15-5-1809 Ledbury Peter Died in 1838, but I can't seem to find his or Hannahs Parents. I know Hannah was born in 1786, that's about all I can find so far.

To get info on Peter Careless you will probably need to get his death certificate Mar qtr Ledbury 26/173 and hope that the informant knew who his father was etc.
It appears from IGI that Hannah Tyler was baptised 23/12/1787 Ledbury, Hereford. The are a few Hannah Tylers, but given this one is from Ledbury she is probably the one, in that case her parents seem to be John Tyler and Sarah ? who were married in Ledbury in 1786. If you go to the information on IGI you can order the film from your local LDS Church who will probably have a family history library, if not they can tell you the nearest one to where you are. It will cost about A$5 and you can use the film for 10 days. I have used the library here in Orange quite a bit.

Or
Peter Careless b:1820, Herefordshire England married Ann Powell.

Williams' Son William Groves b:1835 Married Peter's Daughter Ann Careless b:1846 Herefordshire England.
I am after any correspondance between William or Ann and their families back in England after They moved to Australia in 1881. I am hoping that there will be a letter somewhere that would explain to me why William and Ann immigrated to Australia. Surely Ann wrote to her family. Can anyone help me?
