Hi, I am searching for information on my great grand. He searved in the Volunteer Sevice Coy of the Highland Light Infantry. He was a Buglar #8375.
Apparently he was awarded the South African Medal 1902. Also, he was given the Key to the City of Edinbourgh......for one reason or another!!!
At the time of his enlistment his real name was John William Bishop....he was only 14 years old at the time. Of course they turned him away, but when he went back, he changed his name and birthdate.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
