My gGrandfather was married in Calcutta Cathedral in 1876 and the marriage details refer to him as "attached to High School" - I assume Calcutta. Currently there seem to be MANY High Schools in Calcutta. Can anyone advise any details of the "High School" in 1876 where it was and whether it still exists please.

Hi,

came across your question while browsing in the fora.

Kiddipore House, was a college for predominantly english students in Calcutta in the late 1800's. The "Lady Principal" at least in 1878 was Jane Eliza Williams, daughter of the Venerable Archdeacon Williams of Edinbugh Academy. I believe her sister Margaret was also a teacher there. These are distant relatives of my wife, but I have yet to do any further research. Please keep in touch as we may be able to get something more someday.

Cheers

Johnzee
