The 1st step is to get a copy of the marriage certificate. However, I can't find a marriage on the General Register Office for England & Wales (GRO) Index that corresponds with the details you have given. Did the couple marry in Scotland? Where did you get the reference from?

Hi ,
I think I have got my James Heards mixed here. I am looking for my grandparents. From my fathers birth certificate they were James Heard, who I think was a miner, and Elizabeth Jane Heard ,formerly Clark. They lived at Holywell Square, Holywell, Earsdon, Northumberland. My father was born 4/11/1910 and as far a I know had an older sister- Bella and a brother Ralph who I believe went to Australia. I am at the early stages and seem to be getting nowhere fast! If this is the correct family, then James may win the prize for largest number of surviving siblings - 16!
