my family tree contains walkers and binghams from my fathers side.his parents were harold and winnie(nee sanders).harolds parents were isiah and annie(nee bingham).isiahs parents were john and mary a (nee unknown,possibly egglshaw).all born heanor/derbyshire/nottinghamshire. thanks for any info.lesley

I believe some of Heanor's BMD maybe under Basford (Nottingham) and some under Heanor itself.

thanks for your replies davran and neil.the furthest back i can go with the walkers is john brn 1839 in heanor,his wife mary a?(eggleshaw?) same year witwick,leicester.john father may also be john married to hannah?.the binghams furthest back john brn 1839,st marys nottinghamshire ? eastwood.his wife elizabeth miller brn 1848,in charlton kent.they married in gibraltar in1865,john was a gunner in royal artillery.their first child harriet was brn in gibraltar,their next child john was brn in woolwich,i have no regiment details.thats as far back as i go at the moment.thanks lesley85

If you are back to 1839, then you should be able to find them on FreeBMD (http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl) - civil registration started in July 1837 (but a lot of births still weren't registered - it would seem they assumed baptism was the same thing - registration did not become compulsory, and a fine, until 1875). You would then get parents names.
Do you have any census details?

P.S. it is customary in family history research to put surnames in capitals - makes them stand out more. (Capital letters also make posts easier to read!):)

thanks for your reply.the furthest back census i have for the BINGHAMS is 1871. on the 1901 i came across somemore BINGHAMS. JOHNS WIFE IS NOW HANNAH.HENRY BINGHAM brn 1882,FREDRICK ,BRN1888,herbert BRN 1890,FRANK BRN 1893,and thomas s WHITE brn1893,he is johns stepson.HANNAH was brn in belper in1864.lesley85
