i have often wondered how the little ones were chosen -who got shipped out and who was put up for adoption.
as i was given up for adoption in 1950 i feel blessed to have missed being sent abroad ,given the appalling stories i have heard about the treatment of these poor children on reaching their destinations.
were these children renched from their families and homes or were they just surpluss to requirements?

I imagine that in inner London, those with too many children just could not cope. The chance of a better life for their child seemed a good idea to some.

I have a child in my family history sent to Canada on the Home Children Scheme and his descendants actually fared much better than those that were left behind. Must have been a resourceful lad.
