John H Edwards was born in America 12 September 1874 christened in Rhode Island. His father was Henry Charles Edwards born Herefords UK and Mary Ann Hanagan who, according to the 1881 census was born in America
In 1881 the family lived in Newton, Lancashire UK. Mary Ann died in December 1882 having given birth to another son in September 1882, in Lancashire. This second son was my husband's grandfather Charles William Edwards.
Charles Edwards joined the Royal Navy in 1900 and, probably 1905 to 1907 served in the Australia staion. My husband remembers him saying that he arrived in Freemantle searching for his brother, only to be told that he had left a few days before to go "up country".
How do I find out when John H entered Australia and his subsequent history?
