Quiniase maker

My great great grandfather is listed as being a quiniase maker. Anyone know what this might be? Your help would be much appreciated.

A mistranscription or a misreading, I would guess.

Quinia? Quinine? Quinina?

No doubt, like me, you've done a search without success. Quinase gives lots of hits, it's an enzyme but not an English word. Could it be related to the manufacture of quinine do you think?

Where did you find the word, was it a certificate or a census return? If so it could well be spelt wrongly.
