Hi,

I am trying to find details of birth and parents for William Henry Stanley. From the information I have, he was apparently born abt 1820, Windsor Castle. This is unconfirmed by document, only by several notations I have found. He joined the army for 5 years before coming to Australia in 1837 (this would make him abt 12 when he joined the army and 17 when he came to Australia). His father was the organist at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, where William got his early musical training and went on to be an accomplished musician here in Australia. He married Susannah Sarah New in Australia and died in 1902 in Sydney.

Any information or guidance as to his parents or how he came to Australia would be greatly appreciated. I cannot find anything this end. His marriage and death certificates dont not parents on them. I don't even know if he had any brothers or sisters. There don't seem to be any with him here.

Hope to hear from you soon
Kind regards
Di.

Hi Di,
I am a direct descendant of Susannah New's sister (Margaret New), so I have quite a bit of information on her and their parents (who were both convicts) (please let me know if any of this information would be helpful to you, as I'm happy to pass it on). However, I have hit a brick wall when it comes to William Henry Stanley. I was wondering if you have had any luck finding additional details on him since your last post?
Kind regards
Ramona
