Hi I am looking for both my mum and dads sides, Mums is easy she from the midlands and has Fancotes Wards, Silvester hadalot of success, Dads side is harder as his are from Ireland Careys I know they lived in Kirkham Lancashire and Salford but have now got stuck so have joined here to see if I can get any help, Thank you

My great grandparents, George Henry Carey and Mary Jane Watson were married in Salford they were both born there, but at some times in each of there lives lived in Kirkham Lancs, George Henry had a brother born Preston 1871 also sister Elizabeth born salford, there mum and dad were Michael and Ellen Carey from Ireland Mary Jane has her father as william Watson but no mention of her mother so now Im stuck where to go

I take that you know that they were married at Salford Register Office in 1902 (Lancsbmd ref SAL/86/155) and that on the 1091 Census they were at RG 13 3712 folio 143. Do you have them on other census returns? What was William WATSON's occupation? Was he still alive at the time of their marriage?

In 1891 she may be at RG 12 3289 folio 75.

Hi thank you for helping me,
1881 census Michael and Ellen Carey living pendleton salford with there children, I know John thomas died as a baby.
In 1891 Ellen lived with 2 of her children she was a widow then can only find one Michael Carey who died in the fylde about that time but the age didnt match. Her son William married Elizabeth Thompson later her daughter married
John Jackson.
1901 she lived with george henry and maryJane watson,
1881 Mary Jane lived with her grandma Jane watson her dad william a labourer
and his sister ann, William Carey had a son called William born 1913 in pendleton he was supposed to have been a good footbballer.
I may have found William Carey born 1871 in preston birth will have to get a certificate of bmd site it says his mums surname was rogers but not sure
any help will be appreciated its complicated i know thank you once again

Hi again i got the george henry marriage certificate it didnt say william had died, but last i got of jane ann and william is 1881, the certificate didnt say Michael carey had died either but the cencus said ellen was a widow

It saves a lot of time if you quote the Census reference numbers and folio numbers.

I do not think that the Mary Jane WATSON at RG 12 3449 folio 50 and the Mary Jane WATSON at RG 13 3712 folio 144 are the same person. I realise that she was very close to the Carey's in 1891 but the age and place of birth are both different.You need to find her birth certificate.

Thank you once again for all your help I see what you mean I didnt realise the difference, I got the marriage certificate and jan 1902 it says her age was 24, her age at death in 1949 was 74 my dad said he doesnt think she ever had a birth certificate and she never mentioned her mum just her dad Bully) Watson the only cencus I have for the Watsons is 1881 RG11 4249 folio 55 living in kirkham dont know anything b4 or after but i will keep trying

Mums side was easy even found a murderer lol

I have but no joy I think Ill try get hold of death certificate and see if that gives any clues on the marriage certificate it says she lived 10 gun street salford ill see if i can find anything on the cencus for that area, thank you again
