My great great grandfather David James was a seaman. He married Mary Edwards by Licence in Haverfordwest in 1852, when their ages were given as 34 and 32. He gave his residence as St Martin's, and hers was Parish of Fishguard.

His father was John James, a labourer, and hers was Evan Edwards, a farmer. From subsequent censuses, Mary was born in Moylegrove. They then lived in Fishguard, but David managed to be away at sea for the census of 1861, and then in the census of 1871 Mary was a Mariner's Widow.

I've had a look at the 1861 Census of Vessels, and there are some David James entries, but none of them looks likely. I've also looked at the indexes to the 1851 Census for Haverfordwest and Fishguard, but haven't managed to locate him.

Any ideas or pointers would be very welcome!
