Hello Bo Peep.
I am looking for any information on the Sooley or Morton Sooley families.
My father is Terence Sooley, my grandfather was George Sooley,my great grandfather was George Morton Sooley,and my great great grandfather was John Morton Sooley.John appeared to have been married twice,once to a susannah goodson and once to a Susan Sooley?if I am correct!There is much confusion arround this and was wondering if any one would be able to help me?

GRO index of marriages has a John Morton SOOLEY marrying in Dec qtr 1839 at Wisbech.

1861 census - see RG9/1052 f80 p10 for John Morton SOOLEY, wife Sarah and 8 children, his mother is also there.

1841 census - see HO107/78/3 f6 p6 for John MORTON, a woman called Sarah whose age ties in with his wife from 1861, plus a few children.

Cambs FHS has an excellent website which includes a baptism index 1801-37

He appears to have been illegitimate, son of Susannah.

It seems as the mother, Frances Bosworth, in 1861 was actually his mother in law rather than his mother
