Is there a website that deals with the scotttish bmd records? I noticed that the scotland people site only go so far then stop .I was looking for a birth record in 1940's,but seem to be struck as to where to look?

I think you need to go to the GRO for Scotland for the dates you are looking for.

Online Births stop at 1906,Deaths at 1956 & Marriages at 1930.
If you need anything after that you have to order the certificate itself from GRO at NRH-check link on Scotlands people.
Or try asking some kind soul who may be going there in the near future to do a look-up for you.
