Hi
I am seeking WILLIAM FAIRY (born 1848 Huntingdon) and his wife MARTHA ELLEN FAIRY (variously born Pimlico, Knightsbridge & Westminster !!) on the 1871 census.
When they married in 1869 the address for both was George St. Both say they are 21 years of age.

In 1881 they are mistranscribed as William & Martha HENRY (clearly Fairy on original) and living at 2 Semley Place.
On the 1881 census they have a son William John born 1877 and a daughter born 1879. By 1871 they may have had a child who later died.

Other addresses I have are;
40 Pavillion Rd in 1888.
32 Grove Avenue Fulham in 1891
25 Pearson St Battersea in 1902

Does anyone have any source other than Ancestry (which I think I have turned inside out!) which may help me?
Very grateful for any help /advice

Marlene

Why "variously"? She might have thrown in Belgravia as well!

What does it say on Martha Ellen's birth certificate?

I have found the following but probably not connected to you. As it is an unusual name I thought I would include them anyway.

Burial at Sheppey Cemetery, Sheppey, Kent
William FAIRY, aged 46, buried 29.6.1891
Augusta FAIRY, aged 77 buried 31.12.1914

Baptism at Queenborough Church, Sheppey, Kent
11.1.1758 John, son of Edmund and Hannah FAIRY.

If not you, they may help someone else.

Glenys.

Well done, Glenys.

I'll throw in a couple more births for the family (I think she'll find that they are from her Fairy family)

Births Sep 1884
Fairy Mary Ann Chelsea 1a 346

Births Dec 1877
Fairy William John St Geo Han Sq 1a _08

but perhaps the OP has lost interest.

Thanks very much Peter I definitely haven't lost interest I have been dealing with a sudden death last Saturday!
Thank you Glynis for the emtries you sent. William died between the birth & death of a daughter Ellen Louise in 1888 and the 1891 census as Martha is a widow by then.
I am not familiar with London or even England so ask for your tolerance.

I had the Free Bmd entries thank you and have their marriage certificate. I have over 1000 of the Fairey /Fairy clan in my family tree Mary Ann and William John are definitely 'mine' and the children of William & Martha- thank you.

Unfortunately I cannot own the Fairys in Kent at this stage but I have recorded the entries you kindly sent Glynis it may help one of my fellow researchers here in New Zealand or Australia.

Thanks very much for taking the time & trouble and I apologise for seeming to be uninterested I'm afraid death doesn't respect others expectations.

Sorry to hear of your loss Marlene.

I will keep an eye open for any more `Fairy's' that might flit into view during my searching.

Regards
Glenys
