Can anyone help with William Sanders (or Saunders)- born about 1827 in St.Anthony/Manaccan. On his marriage to Caroline Sedgman 1858 his civil status is widower and his father Anthony. There seem to be several Anthony Saunders', I think the correct one may be the husband of Johanna nee Hills, however ther doesnt appear to be a baptismal record for William. Until I find his ma, I am stuck.
Neither am I sure of his first marriage
I find him in Helston in 1861, and Camborne in 1871 but other than those census returns he remains an enigma. His second son Sedgeman Nankevill Sanders was my grandfather. Help

It's possible that William wasn't strictly truthful about his age on his marriage certificate.

My gg-grandfather was born in 1822 by his age at his third marriage
According to the 1841, 1851 & 61 censuses & his second marriage he was born in 1817
According to the 1871 & 91 censuses he was born in 1821 and according to the 1881 censuses he was born in 1824.
To add to the confusion when he died in the workhouse he was given as being 88 which put his date of birth at 1806.
When the DFHS found him in their index he was baptized in 1817 (and one of the birthplaces he'd given was actually right!)

Thanks for your help, I have record of most of those Saunders' I need to review the various documents to check on whether or not there may have been a transcription error and that 27 ought actually to read 22.
I guess Anthony and Ann are the appropriate parents, but the others are undoubtedly related.

I have just found this burial in Manaccan
09-Feb 1841 William SANDERS 18 Church Town (transcribed by Diane Donohue)

This is possibly the William son of Anthony and Ann, the age would be right.

Still truggling I'm afraid. Having followed up all of your valuable leads I am left with this man, who according to the 71 census was born about 1827, the 61 census has him born about 1828, and a William was aged 12 in St.Anthony in 1841-must be the same one, but I can find no record of a baptism in any database, or of his first marriage before 1858. Any ideas as to where I may next look-tried just about all online sites plus IGI and Parish chest?
