My G Grandad, George A Deighton, was a Theatre Manager in 1911 and also an entertainer, ventriloquist mostly. I'm trying to get more general information about him as a person, he died in 1935 aged 65.

Did they have to register? Like a kind of Equity? or is there an organisation that specialises in "theatrical" history? He did achieve some fame locally (Guernsey) as he wrote the Lyrics to "Sarnia Cherie" their national anthem, I have googled that and got as much info as I can. I thought rather than go down the Guernsey route I'd try the theatrical side of things, hence my question!!

The Theatre he worked at (St Julians) has long gone, and googling it didn't give me much info eitherr.

Any help,as usual, greatly appreciated, PM me or reply on here I don't mind.

Cheers
