Hello,

Does anyone out there know anything about the organization of the skilled labour force during WW1. My husband's grandfather was a plumber from Peterborough and we have been informed that he was 'sent by the authorities' to work in Gateshead. He and his family settled there and my husband's mother was born there in 1918. We all know that there was considerable control of the labour force during WW2, but I have never heard of this happening during WW1. Can any expert help?
