I am looking for John Hardwick who was married in 1849 at St Ives I think he was at St Neots Union workhouse, his wife was Elizabeth Dennis their daughters were Eliza 1847 and Sarah b 1850. Elizabeth also had a son William b 1840.
When John and Elizabeth came to Aust in 1852 he said he was from Great Paxton and that his mother (No name given) was living at St ?????? I could not read the last bit. From somebody else's info they have him b at Wimblinton. I hope that this bit of info helps.
Thanks Michelle

Hi Michelle,

There are quite a few Hickmans, I have no idea if this is the correct John.

John Green Hardwick Christened 11 May 1828 Great Paxton Huntingdonshire
Mother Foundy Hardwick
FHL Film 1040745

This is from the BVRI, it may be worth ordering the film and having a look, especially at the mothers Christian name?

I can't see for sure in 1851, but here he is in 1851. HO107/1750 folio 418, page 7, St Neots Union Workhouse, Eaton Socon, Bedfordshire
John Hardwick, pauper, Mar, 21, Brickmaker journeyman, Wimblinton, Hunts.
Elizabeth Hardwick, pauper, Mar, 28, Hail Weston, Hunts.
Susan Hardwick, pauper, Unm, 1, Eaton Socon, Beds.
Eliza Dennis, pauper, Unm, 4, Eaton Socon, Beds.

The marriage certificate of John & Elizabeth will give the name & occupation of his father, which might make it easier to find him in 1841.

Thanks Elly and Wirral. This is the right one born Great Paxton as one of the children has the middle name of Foundy which I have never come across before. So could I ask for a 1841 census lookup please for Foundy and John. Thanks Michelle
