He was my great, great ,great grandfather on the paternal side of the family. He was born in Appleby in Westmorland about 1789 and married a lady called Jane Elliot. The banns of their marriage were published om 12th 19th 26th April 1812 at Brampton Church. there is no record that they married there. They lived in Wetheral at that time. They had one son Joseph 1813-1897, Joseph married Mary Hetherington. This is all I know about Richard and have been unable to trace the family back beyond him.
