Would some kind soul take a look at the 1871 census for me and tell me what it says about Joseph OLD born 1828 in Padstow? He should have Frederick 1858 Cardiff, Annie 1863 Cardiff and W. J. 1868 Cardiff with him. I particularly need details of his wife. I have the family in 1881. Thank you.

Different wife. :)

RG9/4036, f.20, p.33
Cardiff - civil parish St Mary
Schedule 197
5 Maria Street - I think, but no dot on the i so I wouldn't swear to it
Joseph Old | Head | Mar | 31 | Ship Wright | Cornwall Padstow
with wife, Elizabeth, 31, Cornwall - I *think* it says St Arran, which doesn't ring any bells with me, so maybe it's an enumerator's misreading, but the A is rounded, whereas elsewhere on that page he uses a pointed A, so maybe I'm wrong?
Kids both Glamorgan Cardiff
Frederick 3 - Scholar
Frank 1

Can't do you 1851 I'm afraid - not that he'd have been married then by the look of it, so no help as far as the wife's birthplace goes - sorry, but you'll need someone with an Ancesspit sub for that one.

Thanks Mythology he was at home in Padstow in 1851 unmarried. I reckon Elizabeth was from St Ervan. She was a BENNETT and he married her in Cardiff in 1853. There was a Sarah Bennett Old buried in Cardiff in 1858 but I have yet to find her birth registration. Also a Fanny buried in 1857 but I am not sure she is theirs. Thanks for the assistance
