Is anyone able to check the 1881 census film for 82 Queen Elizabeth Street, RG11 Piece / Folio 0556 / 24 Page Number 40
According to the birth certificate, George and Mary Ann Richardson had a 4 year old daughter called Keturah but on the LDS 1881 transcription, their 4 year old daughter was called Hannah. I would like to check whether this is the same child and a transcription error, or if there was another child and Keturah was elsewhere on census night (not that I can find her any where else)

Thank you
Margaret

Hi,

The actual 1881 census page is difficult to read but by looking across the page at the writing it is Keturah but I can see how someone might read it as Hannah.
Other children are: Nollie A., Louisa, George E, Winifred and William N.
Hope this helps.

Thank you Jacqui, that is a great help as it confirms that I was looking at the correct family.

Hi Margaret,

I can email a copy of the image if you wish.

Margaret.

You have an answer to your question - that's good.

I don't know if you realised that anyone can examine the census records at the Family Records Centre and county chunks are widely available in CROs. The Centre for Kentish Studies has the Kent pieces for all the censuses although I've never needed to check what their definition of Kent is for this purpose. Census films can also be ordered through the Mormons.

Yes please!
That would be marvellous, thank you
