Looking for maiden name of wife and marriage of Joseph Blyth, Hallamshire cutler to Hannah ? in about 1713. All children baptised in Cathedral Church, Sheffield. Hannah died in 1734.
Marriage not in IGI, not St. Peter's in Sheffield, not
Dronfield, nor Staveley,Whittington,Norton,Beighton,Brampton. I don't have immediate access to Eckington or Killamarsh.
My suspicion is that she was a Derbyshire lass, but they could have been married around around Sheffield as well.
Has anyone done research on Blyth's of Dronfield or have database that you could plug in to find their marriage? I have a history on Blyth's of Derbyshire on order from Salt Lake. but meanwhile...
She is my 6th greatgrandmother.
As usual, Thanks in advance. Karen

As for Hannah & Joseph I was as stumped as you. Could you please give us their childrens names and ages....it might just be something else we can work with.

Kind Regards

Peter... These are the children, I think. William b.5 nov 1713 , Mary b. 24 apr 1717, Hannah b.1 jun 1720, Elizabeth b. 28 feb 1723, Sarah b. 5 jul 1727.
Hannah, the wife died 5 feb 1734/35 in Sheffield. I think Joseph married again to Elizabeth Matley on 29 may 1735. I struggled thru Dronfield and I can't even verify for sure Joseph's father. I think it was William Blyth b.11 may 1661 in Dronfield. The family lived in Cole Aston. William was a husbandman and got many of his sons into apprenticeships. The name Blyth/e is a nightmare as a wealthy family in Norton/Dronfield appear as well in the registers. I think that this Blyth line did not use the 'e' on the end of their name.
What is your particular interest in this family? Thanks for responding. k

If you give me a week or so to finish off some transcribing I will look at my Dronfield, Eckington, Beighton and Norton Will indexes. Or if you are a member, Derbyshire FHS have copies as do Lichfield DRO. Let me know.
