Trying to find out about Reginald Willis or Crisp. He has always been known as Willis but on his birth certificate it has Crisp. ( this he only found out about a few years ago) He was born 11th March 1911 in Kidderminster one of 4 children, Walter, Ida and Gladys the other 3. Mother was Hilda Crisp and Father Walter Willis. ( not sure if this is correct). His Daughter is trying to clear up the confusion. Help ! !

Have they got the marriage certificate for the parents of Reginald? Maybe the parents did not marry until after his birth. If this is the case then the father could not be named on the birth certificate unless he was present for the registration, in other words he had to agree in person that he was the father.

Have you actually seen the birth certificate? The birth was registered in the Kidderminster registration district as were the siblings you mentioned.

Ida and Gladys were actually registered as Ida Willis CRISP and Gladys Willis CRISP.

As Copper has pointed out, the only question is whether the parents ever married.

And if they didn't, what's the big deal?
