In researching my Francis family I find they were in the Devizes and nearby villages for some 150 years or more. I note there is a Francis Road in Market Lavington. Is it possible to find out the reason for that name(apart from the obvious) Fran

Fran,
I suggest you send an online question to the Wiltshire County Council community history questions:

They are brilliant at helping with things like this.
Good luck

" For Pete's sake,"It seems that a Francis familiy lived in the area since before WW11, so it was named after them.Their farm was in the middle of the village. This is a new subdivision. Some of family may still live in the area. I do not feel they are my relations, unless quite distant(Chippenham), Fran
