Unknown cause of death

Can anyone enlighten me as to what looks like "Meeration of the Bowels" might be? It certainly looks like that - I guess at a push, it could be "Weeration" or even "Aleeration", but I cannot find any thing on any of them.

Any ideas? It was a death registered in 1877 or a female aged 31.

Without seeing it, I would hazard a guess at 'Ulceration of the Bowel'. This is a medical condition which you can google for quite easily.

Yes, it could quite well be "Ulceration" - it's funny that when someone mentions a word, suddenly it becomes quite obvious!
