Edward Dobson/Ann Donkin

Edward Dobson married Ann Donkin at Holy Trinity, Sunderland, 1832. I am searching for his parents/siblings plus any children from his marriage to Ann. Any help would be most appreciated. Jo-Jo

there is this in the 1841 census;

HO107 321 Bk 6 F 19 p32

Barrack St, Sunderland
Edward Dobson 25 Pilot
Ann Dobson 25
Dorothy Dobson 4
(all b Durham)

They seem a bit young, but of course the names were rounded down.I can't find them in later census returns, but on freebmd, there is a birth;

Jun 1838 Dorothy Dobson Sunderland Vol 24 P 246

and a possible marriage;

Mar 1856 Dorothy Dobson Sunderland Vol 10a P 479

I suppose you just got that out of the IGI without checking the original parish register. You should check this in case it contains any clues about his parents.

I had a quick look for you. Edward and Anne's marriage is there (via GENUKI), but there doesn't appear to be a baptism for him. If I remember rightly there is also a forum member who is very knowledgeable in this area. Have a search through previous posts for Durham - I can't remember his name.

Many thanks to Birdlip, Davran and Peter for the information and advice. I think the family shown on the 1841 census could well be one of my Dobsons.
