Samuel Davenport of Ashley?

Does anyone know anything about Samuel Davenport who married Mary Birch in 1817 at Manchester Cathedral and had a daughter Elizabeth baptised at Ringway in 1819. He is recorded as a "widower" when he married Mary Birch and lived in Ashley, Cheshire but not found a previous marriage.
Any clues appreciated.
