I am hoping someone can have a look at this image (details from FreeCen)

Piece: HO107/1918
Place: Penzance -Cornwall Enumeration District: 3a
Civil Parish: Marazion Ecclesiastical Parish: -
Folio: 123 Page: 8 Schedule: 27
Address: Leans Row

William and Elizabeth Williams
Elizabeth was born Over Stowey, Somerset, as was their son William Williams. This showed up in 1851 for the son as Overston, and in 1861 for both of them as Overstoy. Lucky me, found the transcriptions online for marriage and baptisms for Over Stowey.

Anyway, can somwone check to see if the image is closer to Overston than the 'Strenton' as on FreeBMD?

thanks

Hi Christine
The reference you give has the following residents:-

William Williams Head 62 Miner born Cornwall Crowan
Elizabeth Williams wife 64 born Somersetshire Streathen? (definitely not Overston or anything like Over Stowey)

Cheers Jeremy

Hi Christine,
Type in the above title into Google search. This is the title of a book written by Rev. William Holland, vicar of Over Stowey 1799-1818. He describes in his diaries and letters the characters living in the parish at that time with a 'no holds barred' attitude. If your ancestors lived there you will probably find it interesting reading.

Thanks Jeremy
that's what I wanted to know. Possibly another Elizabeth Williams. I'll check out the vicar's book. First sign of them on Over Stowey was the marriage in 1819, so might just miss out.

Thanks Roy
I must check it out further. If she is in Cornwall in 1851 I will find her.
