Can anyone help me find the marriage of Jane Wells 1865c and William James 1860c.
I think they were from the portsea area but cant yet be sure.
they had 3 children named Lily Ellen, Caroline and William(billy) who all stayed in the Portsmouth and Southampton area..although i think William was at sea alot.
I THINK Jane was the daughter of George wells and Caroline Merrett but cant seem to find any real proof.
Any help with either of these families would be much appreciated
Ally

Are they shown as a couple on the 1891 or 1901 census? What are the approx years of birth of their children? Do you have a birthplace for the eldest child from a census return? What are the burthplaces for the couple from the 1891/1901 census? - All this information could help someone to either advise, or locate the marriage for you.

Could either of the couple have had another forename? Was your chap in the RN or Merchant Navy? If he was in the RN, Documentsonline shows a Frederick William James born 1864 in Portsea.
