Looking for any descendants of William and Isabella Middlemiss. They came with their children to Australia in 1852 and settled in Maldon, Victoria. I would love to find more relations.

Do you need any BDM information?
The name seems mostly common around Stawell and St Arnaud.

You probably will have more success for contacting descendants if you post -
William and Isabella's birth places and ages
Isabella's maiden name
The names and birthyears (and places) of her children.

This will give more for the search engines to pick up - and there may be cousins who have not got that far back in their tree who may see a connection.

If you are not the Diane of this web page, then she is a cousin.

Hello ChristineR
Yes that is my site at rootsweb.
The St.Arnaud and Stawell Middlemiss mobs are, at this stage, not belonging to our mob.
I have collected many middlemisses over the years because one day if you go back far enough they may connect in somewhere.

Hi Diane

There are the following on the NSW BDM site @

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm

107 deaths from 1850 - 1975
60 births from 1850 - 1905
64 marriages ( male surname Middlemiss) 1850 - 1955
43 marriages ( female surname Middlemiss) 1850 - 1955

I see there is one death of a William Middlemiss in 1903, parents William & Isabella. Albury in just over the NSW/VIC border & I too have rellies who landed in Victoria but moved their way up towards & just over the border. So perhaps you have a few in NSW.

Good luck & remember MIDDLEMISS would have been spelt a few differnent ways in error. My maiden name is BALL, & you wouldn't believe how some people spell that !!

As this thread is fairly new I hope someone can assist. I have sent this to a Middlemiss in Vic. Hello ‘Pop’ married my Grandmother Clara Caroline nee Braddock 1941 in Kendall NSW, Australia, after my rat bag GrandFather Sid Field died. I knew Pop as such. I now have his sons (sic) photo sitting on my desk. I can ask my Mother for his name soon. I would like to know if you know of any Middlemiss’ Family members who lived and worked in the Taree, Wauchope, Kendall, Port Macquarie or Kew areas of NSW. All close next to each other.

I recently went back to Kendall to have a look. The Middlemiss Family were there in the 1940-1970 at least. My Mother knows more about them.

I also can get my fingers on other genealogical info. Just been busy with my Mothers Scots ancestors. A researcher called Colin Field has info as well.

I have transcribed these from NSW BDM Deaths. In the hope I can give this beautiful little photo of Pops son to someone. Pop was such a nice man.

If you look at the National Archives of Australia website, there are WW1 enlistments for Middlemiss from around Ballarat-Bendigo. And many from other places in Vic, NSW and UK.
