I am on the trail of Samuel Dobson born in 1807 (Christened Feb 1807 so conceivably could be 1806) in Ellerburn near Pickering. I have found a Samuel Dobson (correct age) on the Marmion Ship in 1849 with his family Liverpool to New York.
If anyone has access to the American Censuses could they and see if there are any likely Dobson's listed after 1849.
