Hi,

Im trying to understand my Info that is have of my Maddersons and some new info that has come to light..

The info I had was the following., Tom Madderson 28/06/1863 (Noton) – 1900 (Darlington) m Margaret Allan abt 1858 (Easlaton) – 1942 (Darlington).

Toms father on the Wedding cert is a Nathaniel Madderson Occupation Painter, I believe Nathanial m Eleanor Kitley in sept 1861 and they had the following children.

Tom 1863, John 1866 and Annie 1869, But someone has come forward and said on the 1881 census there’s the following

Margaret Kirtley abt 1812 Sedgefield, Durham, England Head

Eleanor Madderson abt 1845 Hartlepool, Durham, Daughter
Henry Madderson abt 1872 Sedgefield, Durham, England Grandson
Mary J. Madderson abt 1878 Sedgefield, Durham, England Granddaughter
William Madderson abt 1875 Sedgefield, Durham, England Grandson

Also theres a Annie Maddison age 12 on the 1881 census working as a servat at 26 Market Place Market Hotel, Durham born in sedgfield.

Have I got it all wrong? Is there more than one Nathanial Madderson I know that Toms father was a Nathanial and was a painter, but after that have I made to guess work and not enough fact finding. I know that sometimes Maddersons are wrote as Maddisons but fact that I know of its Madderson as far back as Toms marragie to Margaret.

Any help would be grateful

In the IGI there are Henry Maddison c. 20 AUG 1872, Sedgefield
and Annie Maddison c. 04 MAR 1869, Sedgefield, both children of Nathaniel and Ellen Maddison.

Eleanor, in the 1881 census is married and is the daughter of Margaret Kirtley, but there's no sign of Nathaniel anywhere.

Certainly is a mystery !
