Birth Certificate Woods, Emma Elizabeth

I am searching my wife's English ancestors. Her Great-Grandmother, Emma Elizabeth Woods was born in Wapping on 13 December, 1851.

I have found a registration in Q1 1852 for a Woods, Emma Elizabeth, registered at Stepney(?). Would Stepney relate to Wapping, or do I have the wrong Woods?

Wapping did indeed relate to Stepney.

I presume you found the birth on the Free BMD web site?

The word "Stepney" is a hyperlink. If you click on it it takes you to information about the district. On that page click on the word here and on the next page select the district Stepney which then tells you the parish in the district.

In the same way clicking on the number 475 gives you all the others recorded on that page - assuming they have all been indexed of course.

By the way, the Australian Genealogy forum is for postings about Australia. There is probably a more suitable forum for this query.
