View Full Version : John Wilson Campbell, Baker

Is anyone researching this man - my 3 x great grandfather - who was born in Scotland possibly between 1819-1825?

He may have been in Darlington, Durham, England, in 1851, lodging with a Bowker family in Bondgate.

He married Elizabeth Henderson in 1856 in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England, and they had only one child that I know of, Jane Ann, born in Middlesbrough the following year. (However, Elizabeth did have an illegitimate daughter too, Elizabeth, born in 1850 in Gainford, Durham.)

1861, 1871 and 1881 see the family living at various premises in Lower Feversham Street, where it seems that John had a shop, although by 1881 it seems that he was out of work.

John died in late 1882 and is buried in Linthorpe Cemetery.

According to his marriage certificate his father was Archibald Campbell, Bread Baker.

I'd love to find John and/or his father in 1841 either in Scotland or England but although I've found several possibilities, I can't confirm any of them.

Does anyone else recognise any of these details?

Many thanks in anticipation.
