Does anyone know how to find out what a person was sent to prison for?
My gr gr grandmother was, at the time of the 1881 census, in the H M Prison, Frances Street, Westminster, London.
Her name was Susan Kelling (nee Grover), age 30 (1851), married, domestic servant general. Her correct birth date is 12-Dec-1847, Alton, Hampshire/Southampton.
