Hello!!

My great-grandfather was George Louis Shurmer b1872 died 1947. He was the younger brother of Elizabeth Sarah Shurmer b18/8/1861 in Worcester. Other siblings included John Frank Shurmer b1860 d1940 [descendants exist], Harry William Shurmer b1871 d1913 [descendants], Tom Summerfield Shurmer b1876 d1935 [no known line of descent] and Randolph Shurmer b1884 d1917 [descendants]

The parents of these 6 siblings were Alfred Richard Hopton Shurmer b Feb 1840 in Gloucester d November 1919 in Camberwell and Ann Elizabeth Shurmer [nee Summerfield] b1840 d1910. Alfred Richard Hopton's father Richard Shurmer married Susannah Hopton in 1837 and died in April 1840 aged 39. I am not 100% sure who Richard's father was, but it is possible that it was a John Shurmer, which potentially would trace their line of descent back to 1590.

Elizabeth Sarah Shurmer married George Frederick Sullivan 16/8/1878 in St. Jude's Church, Southwark.

Which makes us 3rd cousins!!

:D

Regards,

Andrew Shurmer
