1861 census for Tunbridge Wells has a household with a 'nurs daur', Anne Todman aged 1. The head of the household is a 44 year-old widow with 3 children aged 13, 10 and 8. The lodger, Wm Todman, a widower of . The lodger, Wm Todman, a widower of 52, has 2 sons aged 13 and 11.
I have been puzzling over the relationships between them all. At first I thought widow Ann Powell might have been a wetnurse for baby Anne, but it seems unlikely at her age unless she had just lost a baby of her own.
This is just out of pure nosiness as I've never come across a 'nurs daur' before. Any ideas anyone?
