I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Sue Dent. I have the census records for both parishes, various trade directories and I have transcribed the baptisms & burials for Talland 1813-1901, the burials 1672-1901.

For Lansallos I have transcribed the burials 1813-1989, the baptisms 1813-1993 and the marriages 1837-1946.

Hello Sue

My great-grandmother was born Elizabeth Ann Wise in Lansallos in December 1844. Her parents were Robert Wise and Ann Cock. They had two other children Robert and Mary who died in Liskeard in about 1853 or so. are there any references to other families of this nmae in Lansallos, please

Your first port of call perhaps should be Polperry FHS
if you click on the family pages & then click on Curtis there is a brief history of the Curtis family or should I say families. Which branch of the family are you particularly interested in?

There are films of Talland & Lansallos records available on film from the LDS if you live near one of their family history centres

My gg-grandfather was John Richards, born 1814 in Polperro. He married Mary Ann Watty in Stoke Damerel in 1843 but I wonder whether he was still in Polperro for the 1841 census. Would appreciate if you could check, also on his parents John Richards (born Lansallos 1784) and Joanna Richards (born 1787). Any information on the parents in the later censuses would be appreciated.

I'm afraid that I can't find John or his parents in Talland or Lansallos in 1841.
The entries for this family in the baptisms register are as follows:
5 January 1815 John John & Joanna RICHARDS Polperro Labourer
2 July 1820 Mary John & Joanna RICHARDS Polperro Labourer
11 September 1825 Jane John & Johanna RICHARDS Polperro Labourer

I have checked the burials register for both of the Polperro parishes and I can't find any of the family members I'm afraid

I have checked & there are no other children to this couple baptized in Talland.
I have also checked Lansallos Parish & there are no baptisms there either

I have been doing some further digging. Although it looks like John may have been at sea in 1841 I have been able to find Johanna in 1841 and subesequent censuses as well as John's family

My Great G..G.. Grandmother was Elizabeth Legg, born about 1826 in *Lansallos, Cornwall. Her father was James Legg.
She married John Southcott on May 16, 1847 in Plymouth. A Mary Legg witnessed the marriage.
I would greatly appreciate a transcription of Elizabeth's baptism.
