Good website for family tree

Im currently using a website,provided by Tribalpages,for my family history.
The thing is,i want a really good web address,that would let me add photos of family members current and past,and add lots of information.

Im not that pleased with Tribalpages,and have decided to change for a better one.
Im willing to pay if need be,as long as its not a lot of money per annum/month.

Can anyone recommend any?

Try http:accounts.rootsweb.com/ there are various different categories and I sure you will find one to suit your needs.

What about Rootsweb? Their Freepages offer free and unlimited space for family history sites. The downside is that they put adverts at the top and bottom of each of your pages, and some people might find them less suitable because I don't think they allow some of the more advanced coding that other sites do.

Alternatively, does your ISP offer free webspace? Most do, up to a certain amount, and usually this will be advert-free.

From what I remember about Tribalpages, it's a dynamic site where you upload a GEDCOM and the server's software does the rest. With Rootsweb you have to produce your own (static) site, either manually or with your FH program, or both.

You can get very good quality free FH websites with only one small RC ad at the bottom of every page - at rootschat.

RC is a genealogy forum like B-G, covering British & Irish genealogy. Excellent value and totally FREE.

There are no templates, everyone codes their own pages and uploads them using the RC FTP program. Below is my website -

Rachel, my web site is hosted by Rootsweb, free ie. no monetary charge, but with banners top and bottom. These used to get in the way a bit, but recently they have reduced the size and to be honest, I don't notice them now.

When I set this up a couple of years ago, there weren't so many options, but it achieved what I wanted, in that it got some information out there.
