I would love to know more about my gt.gt.grandfather if possible.
Born 1823/24, parents Thomas and Mary Cock.
His first wife died March 1864, he married his second 4 months later, July 1864!!
He is mentioned in a book, "Madron's Story" as a village character.
Anyone out there who could give me any snippets of informarion about this family please?

I have just had a quick look myself and found Thomas Cock, bapt.20 July 1823 to Thomas and Mary (Labourer of Churchtown, Madron). You will find other children there for Thomas and Mary.
From the IGI Thomas Cock married Mary Jeffery 01 April 1820 at Madron.
You will note that one of their children is Ann Jeffery Cock.
Hope this gets you going. If I can be of more help shout loud,Roy

I see by 1842 he was now a "Carrier" so had gone up in the world.
Also in 1842 he had a daughter called Alice Ladner Jeffery Cock. I would certainly look for a connection to a Ladner line. Maybe a grandparent. I have Cock ancestry in nearby St.Just that goes back to 1574. Hopefully we may find a connection one day. I will keep looking for this. Roy

Hi Wardy, me again,
Just had a look at the 1851 census.
Thomas given as 54 ( I suspect this should be 58) and Mary given as 57.He born at Zennor.
Going to the IGI, Thomas Cock bapt. 19 sept. 1793 at Zennor to Nicholas. Also Grace at the same time.
Nicholas Cock married Elizabeth Eddy 28 dec 1792 at Zennor.
I think this may well be your man, Roy

Thanks royston, I shall certainly look into this.
Thomas married Mary Jeffery and her father, Joseph, married Alice Ladner. As far as I can tell, the Ladners come from Sancreed.

Hi Wardy,
I certainly think that we are on the right track. I can give you some Ladner details if you want them. If you want to send me your e mail address I will do so.

Hi Wardy, I don't know whether this will just confuse the issue but I have a Thomas Cock who is the father of Mary Cock born around 1603 in St Just in Penwith. I don't have any ancestors or descendents (apart from Mary) for Thomas at this stage but will post them if they come to light. Cheers, Bernadette
