Hello again

I'm sure this is an easy one for Oxfordshire locals:-

My husbands G Grandfather committed suicide in Chipping Norton in August 1912, my understanding is that local newspaper reports frequently contain more detail than inquest reports. So does anybody know (a) the name of Chipping Nortons local newspaper and (b) where in Oxfordshire the archives are kept.

Thank you in advance.

Chippy didn't really have its own newspaper then. Your best bets are:

The Oxford Times
The Banbury Guardian

If you ever get stuck as to the titles of newspapers, use the British Library's online newspaper catalogue
http://www.bl.uk/catalogues/newspapers/welcome.asp

(b) where in Oxfordshire the archives are kept. The Centre for Oxfordshire Studies on the top floor of the Library in the Westgate Centre, Bonn Square, Oxford has The Oxford Times on microfilm. The library is about a 5 minute walk from the railway station. There's a small museum at Chippy which may have some records.

The Centre for Banburyshire Studies (if it is still called that) in Banbury has films of The Banbury Guardian.
