Tarring

Hello. I'm trying to trace details on the parents of either John Tarring, born circa 1806 in Holeteton (does it exist? I think that's waht the census says), Devon and / or his wife, Ellen, also born around 1806, from the same county. They moved to London in the 1830s and I'm descended from their second daughter, Emily Jane (born 1844 in Marylebone). Any more info on John or Ellen would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tom

Can't help you with your Tarrings - but would suspect the place name is Holbeton?

According to the IGI:

John Tarring
Christened 11/08/1805 Holbeton, Devonshire
Father Nicholas Tarring
Mother Ann

If you do a search on batch number C051111, you will find many other Tarrings, including siblings of John!
