Hi there people

I was wondering if any one can help me i am trying to find out any information on jonathan edgar frisby and eva lane who were both born in circa1900 in peterborough? and lived in crowland lincolnshire and marryed around 1923 i have tried to find information in the 1901 census but have had no luck I am new to geneology so any advice or information would be gratefully recieved

many thanksHere's Jonathan in the 1901 census:

Census: 1901: RG13/1468 Folio 50 Page 13
Address: South Street, Crowland, Northamptonshire
-- Jonathan FRISBY Head M 39 Agricultural Labourer Worker [born] Crowland (Lincs)
-- Eliza " Wife M 38 [born] " "
-- Mable " Daughter 10 Scholar [born] " "
-- Mexican " Daughter 6 " [born] " "
-- Jonathan Edgar " Son 1 [born] " "

I have to say, I've never seen "Mexican" as a first name before! It's not a transcription error -- the handwriting on the image clearly spells out "Mexican". I wonder what the story is behind the name?

Good luck with your research.

I don't see an Eva Lane who fits your description on the 1901 census but there is a FreeBMD birth record which may apply: Eva Lane 1901 3rd quarter Peterborough Volume 3b Page 266

Here's Jonathan's family in the 1891 census:

Census: 1891: RG12/1232 Folio 125 Page 5
Address: West Street Private House, Crowland, Lincolnshire
-- Jonathan FRISBY Head Married 29 Agricultural Labourer Crowland
-- Eliza " Wife " 27 [born] "
-- Ellen Richmond Daughter Single 7 [born] "
-- Phoebe FRISBY " " 4 [born] "
[b]Next door:
-- Robert RICHMOND Head Widower 55 Agricultural Labourer [born] "
-- Edward RICHMOND Son Single 26 " " [born] "
-- Annie " Daughter " 20 [born] "

It looks like there may be some sort of family connection between the FRISBYs and the RICHMONDs. Try looking for Jonathan in the 1881 census.

Trish

Looks like Eliza's maiden name was RICHMOND...

FreeBMD has a marriage record for a Jonathan FRISBY in the 4th quarter of 1884 in Peterborough. One of two potential brides listed is an Eliza RICHMOND. The other bride is an Elizabeth FRISBY -- perhaps Jonathan's sister -- and it looks likely that she married a John WHALEY. Reference: Volume 3b Page 449.

So perhaps Robert RICHMOND is Eliza's father and Edward and Annie, her brother and sister. It also looks likely that Ellen RICHMOND is Eliza's daughter, born prior to her marriage to Jonathan.

Trish

Thanks, Pam. Live and learn!
Quite easy to translate when you know the area. Wasn't sure exactly where it was in relation to the other Deepings though, so had a look at www.streetmap.co.uk (http://www.streetmap.co.uk) (I cheated and entered Market Deeping for the search :) )
I'll actually be going through Deeping St Nicks on Saturday - over the rickety-rackety (un)level railway crossing.
