How's this?

Census: 1841: HO107/408/5 Folio 10 Page 14
Address: Stonebrook, Whitwell, Isle of Wight Division East Medina Liberty, Hampshire
-- Thomas BOYS 50 Farmer Y [for born in same county]
-- Martha Do 20 Y
-- Caroline Do 15 Y

And James born about 1820 -- perhaps this is the same James:

Census: 1841: HO107/405/5 Folio 5 Page 4
Address: Lodge Gate Lucecombe ???, Bonchurch, Isle of Wight Division East Medina Liberty, Hampshire
-- James BOYES 20 Ag Lab Y [for born in same county]
-- Caroline ?Elderfield? 14 Y

I think they are in the same household -- and the only occupants -- judging by the enumerator's marks.

Trish

And William Henry -- perhaps this is the same person:

Census: 1841: HO107/408/5 Folio 11 Page 17
Address: Whitwell, Isle of Wight Division East Medina Liberty, Hampshire
-- Robert JONES 30 Ag Lab Y
-- Ann Do 30 Y
-- William BOYCE 15 Y
-- Ann Jones 10 Y
-- Jane Do 8 Y
-- Maurice 6 Y

Trish

Lastly, Henry:

Census: 1841: HO107/405/4 Folio 5 Page 5
Address: Lucecombe ???, Bonchurch, Isle of Wight Division East Medina Liberty, Hampshire
-- Henry BOYCE 20 Ag Lab Y [for born in same county]

He appears to be living on his own but in the vicinity of the James I gave you.

Trish

From what I can determine from some quick searches, there are no Charlottes [BOYCE/BOYS/BOYES/BOYS] or Ann/Annes or Elisabeth/Elizabeths associated with the Isle of Wight popping up on the 1841 census.

In addition to what I gave you, there are the following:
-- Jane BOYCE born about 1816
-- Caleb BOYES b. abt 1838
-- James BOYES b. abt 1836
-- John BOYES b. abt 1831
-- Sarah BOYES b. abt. 1796
-- William BOYES b. abt 1796 and abt. 1840
-- John BOYSE b. abt 1776
-- Susanna BOYSE b. abt 1781

Hope this all helps.

This is fantastic, Trish. Thanks so much.

Could you give me the details of William Boyes with his wife Sarah and children Caleb, James, John and William that you found.

Is there another Thomas Boyce c1788 other than the father of Martha and Caroline?

Thanks,
Jennifer

Thanks,
JenniferYou're most welcome, Jennifer. Here's the William BOYES family:

Census: 1841: HO107/405/2 Folio 8 Page 11
Address: Haven Street, Arreton, Isle of Wight Division East Medina Liberty, Hampshire
-- William BOYES 45 Ag Lab Y [for born in same county]
-- Sarah do 45 Y
-- John do 10 Y
-- James do 5 Y
-- Caleb do 3 Y
-- William do 1 Y

I see only the one Thomas born about 1791, however, it's always possible that his name was wrongly recorded by the enumerator or misinterpreted by the transcriber.

Hi Trish,
Oh wow. I've just found that the Jane Boyce born about 1816 fits in my tree! :) I have a Jane Boyce c26Jun1816.

Could you find the details for her? And also her father James Boyce c1796 and stepmother Harriet c1802? Their surname might be spelt Royce.

Could I have the details for John & Susanna Boyse too please? - That should complete all the Boyces I know about on the Isle of Wight!!

Thanks so much.

Well, what do you know... you're right, Jennifer, James and Harriet are, indeed, under ROYCE, but the handwriting on the image looks like BOYCE to me:

Census: 1841: HO107/405/6 Folio 22 Page 9
Address: Brading, Isle of Wight Division East Medina Liberty, Hampshire
-- Jame BOYCE 45 Carpenter Y [for born in same county]
-- Harriet Do 35 Y
-- James Do 15 Y
-- Edward Do 15 Y
-- Fredrick Do 15 Y
-- John Do 12 Y
-- Henery [sic] Do 10 Y
-- Elizabeth Do 10 Y
-- Ellen Do 7 Y
-- Thomas Do 5 Y
-- Anne Do 2 Y

Whew! Big family.

I will give you the details for John and Susanna when I have a bit more time.

Thank you sooooo much Trish. I am very very grateful. There's an Edward I didn't know about! I'm descended from George who was not even born yet! But he was the last - I think! And you found big sister Jane for me. Thanks again.

JenniferYou are much welcome, Jennifer. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on Susanna and John. Work got in the way! Here they are:

Census: 1841: HO107/406/9 Folio 24 Page 3
Address: Union Street, Newchurch, Isle of Wight Division West Medina Liberty, Hampshire.
-- James TAYLOR 35 Artist Y [for born in same county]
-- Susanna Do 30 Y
-- John BOYSE 15 Independant [I'm really not sure if I've got this word right!] Y
-- Susanna Do 60 Y

Too bad the 1841 census doesn't give the relationships of the household members to each other. Any idea who the TAYLORs might be?

Regards,
Trish
